According to British Columbia law, a snowmobile is an engine-driven all-terrain vehicle that:

  • Is designed to travel over snow or ice and...
  • Is self-propelled by an endless belt or belts and...
  • Is steered by a ski or skis and...
  • Weighs 1,000 pounds or less.

The term “snowmobile” also includes snowmobile conversion vehicles.

In British Columbia, a snowmobile conversion vehicle is a vehicle that can be converted into a snowmobile by removing, adding, or repositioning its parts.
