What Is a Snowmobile?
According to Minnesota law, a snowmobile is a self-propelled vehicle that:
- Was originally manufactured and designed for travel on snow or ice and…
- Is steered by skis or runners.
In Minnesota, snowmobiles do not include any of these vehicles that have been equipped with aftermarket skis and tracks:
- All-terrain vehicles (ATVs)
- Off-highway motorcycles (OHMs)
- Off-road vehicles (ORVs)
- Utility task vehicles (UTVs)
- Any other vehicles being operated off-road
