Observing OHV Laws in Utah

Understanding Operator Requirements

  • Persons under 8 years of age may not operate any OHV on public lands, roads, or trails in Utah.
  • Persons 8 to 15 years of age may operate an OHV on public property designated for OHV use only if they have a safety education certificate from Utah State Parks or their home state.
  • Persons 16 years of age and older may operate an OHV on public property designated for OHV use only if they have:
    • A valid driver’s license or …
    • An approved safety education certificate.

OHV Safety Education

To obtain a Utah safety education certificate, the operator must successfully complete the Utah State Parks' OHV safety education course.
